Chanca Morrell, A Modern Day's Renaissance Woman

A successful technology career, devastating losses, and now vigorously giving back.

Welcome to the 2nd interview for the PebbleCreek Voices pilot series. By interviewing some of your neighbors, I simply hope to stimulate conversation within this unique community.

Today, our guest is another very interesting PebbleCreek resident, Chanca Morrell. Chanca stays very busy contributing to our community. She has held several positions as a PCLGA member, including president of the PebbleCreek's ladies 18-hole golf group.

She’s a valuable member of Showtime. Not only as a performer, but she also has written and directed 6 shows, the most recent was The Beat Goes On.

Chanca is also active in her church where she’s been a board member and is currently serving on the Pastor Search committee helping to find someone to replace their paster who retired.

Chanca grew up in Indiana and at the age of 16, in the 1960’s, she became interested in computers. You will hear how she entered the male-dominated technology field, worked her way up, was very successful, and “loved her work.” Chanca’s winning personality sparkles during the 30-minute interview as she walks us through her career. With more than her share of talent, tenacity, and grit, she thrived and won respect in the technology field.

After meeting and marrying, Clark, she moved from the Midwest to Arizona, where she worked for American Express for 25 years until she retired.

Chanca then shifts focus on the interview to share with us the importance of pre-planning for our funeral, a topic especially relevant for our community, mostly 55 plus. She shares a very personal chapter of her life when two people she dearly loved died; first her husband, Clark, and four years later her mother, both died suddenly. Here’s where we begin to learn the importance of pre-planning our funerals, and I know you will find her story informative and helpful in your own planning.
